Music - Ms. Perteete
Hello, welcome to music! My name is Ms. Perteete. I began teaching at Sister Thea Bowman Catholic Academy in 2002. In addition to teaching music, I am a local and international performing musician. I constantly strive to provide a secure, caring and stimulating classroom that allows students to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically and socially. There are three elements that I find necessary to achieve this environment: the teacher acting as a guide, allowing the child's natural curiosity to direct their learning, and promoting respect for all things and all people.
Philosophy of Music Education

Music must be taught in schools because it is unique and essential. As a teacher, I believe that I am accountable for educating the entire individual, and music reaches that abstract human element inaccessible to any other medium. It educates the vast expanse of feeling and emotion beyond the limitation of words. As a music teacher, I am responsible for nurturing and developing the very essence of what makes a human being, human.
